The 1939 Ford Coast to Coast car was purchased from Steven Golden of Bel Air, Maryland.  While speaking with Steven his neighbor came over, and in a short time Joe realized he was talking to the son of Bob Gassert, an old schoolmate of Joe's and the owner of the local pharmacy. Small world!  Joe also found out that Steve’s good friend was a person that he had worked closely with for four years at TRW.  The world got even smaller – Joe decided to purchase the ’39 Coast to Coast.

Once the components were in New York at his shop he started to build: he checked the chassis and assembled body, placed rear and was in the process of building the car, then he came down with a medical condition that caused him to reconsider his options on the build.  Joe decided not to build the car himself but to send the car to Mike Goldman Customs in Meridian, Mississippi.

Once in Mississippi with a majority of the components to build, Mike and his son, Talbert, built the car.  The interior was customed by Bill Harrell of Antioch Upholstery & Trim of Baton Rogue, Louisiana.
